Apartment Review
Going downhill fast
Review Date: 6/21/2006
Reviewer: Anonymous

I have lived here for a little over 2 years and the whole property is going downhill. It used to be nice and quiet with some minor exterior repairs needed (the complex itself) here and there. Lately (I think the mgmt company is selling) there has been a flurry of painting and hole-filling, but it really slaps a band-aid on some things that have been real problems.

The laundry rooms, very sad. The one by me has 6 washers and dryers. Most of the time 1-2 of the washers are in some state of being broken. For several months on of them had brown, foul smelling water sitting in it. The dryers are no better and for some reason, depending on which one you put your clothes in you could get 13 minutes or 19. Of course, when I first moved in it was 7 minutes, 11 & 13, so I guess it's improving somehow. This doesn't mention just the general mess. I understand that it is up to the people who live there to control themselves but eventually someone other than the tenants need to empty the trash in there.

The outside lights are so hit or miss, I'm never sure where to park my car where it will be well lit all night. The lights on the outsides of the buildings have been in a state of sputtering death for over a year now. Some have burned out completely, while a good portion of the rest spark to life for a few seconds then die again.

Maintenance is spotty as well. The first year it was great. I think there must be some new guy for the last year though. My heat and A/C have problems at the beginning of the seasons and it doesn't seem to be a priority to maint. that it is almost 90 degrees and rising in my apartment. At one point I had gone home at lunch and it had died. I called the office to report it and the manager told me the maint. guy was at my place right then fixing it. Funny, you would think I would have noticed him since I was standing in my livingroom.

The quality of people they are renting to has been getting worse and worse as well. It used to be quiet but lately there have been in-and-out tenants who yell at each other, have loud parties at 2 a.m. on a Tuesday (with the balcony door open), and some shady people wandering the lot at all hours.

I couldn't tell you if security ever wanders the lot. I've only seen them once and that was when I had to call them myself.

The apartments themselves are very nice inside and are a great size for the money. The layout is great. I take issue with whoever made repairs to the tub tile -work, and whoever put self-stick linoleum over tile floors (so you can see the tiles through the linoleum). Not only that but that a coat of paint does seem to be the repair of choice for wood, drywall, tiles, and appliances.

I wish I could be nicer about this place, but it seems to be going ghetto without anyone to stop it.
